An email signature for freelancers
As a freelancer you are the company. Your signature is often the first place a new client sees what you do and where your work lives, so give it one clear job: get them to your portfolio or your calendar.
Make your freelancer signature — free →What to include
- Name and what you do in plain words: "Brand designer", "iOS developer", "Korean–English translator".
- Your studio or trading name, if you use one, in the Company field.
- Portfolio link in the Website field. One link works better than five.
- Email and one phone number. Leave out numbers you don't answer.
- A booking button such as "Book a 15-minute call". The Banner template (Pro) draws it as a button that also works in Outlook desktop.
- Your logo or photo (Pro). A hosted image shows in Gmail and Outlook; an image stored only on your computer does not.
What to leave out
- Quotes, long disclaimers and rows of social icons. They push your contact details down and can look like spam.
- Rates. Prices change; keep them on your site or in the proposal.
Working with clients abroad?
Add your name in the client's language in the second-language name field, and write your phone number with the country code (for example +82 10-1234-5678). Use "Copy as plain text" for phone mail apps that only accept text signatures.
How to add it
- Fill in your details in SignaturePro and pick a template.
- Click Copy signature.
- Paste it into your mail app's signature settings: see the Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail guides.
